Who we are
dau.game and the run page service run.dau.game are run for the game Definitely a Unicorn ("we"). Questions and requests: v@dau.game.
dau.game
We use Yandex Metrica to see how many people visit the site and where they come from. It sets a cookie and receives visit data: the page, the referrer, approximate location, device and browser. Yandex processes this data on its own servers under its own privacy policy. You can block it with a content blocker or your browser settings.
If you only open a run page
run.dau.game loads Yandex Metrica only if you allow it in the banner at the bottom of the page. Metrica then sets cookies and receives the same visit data as on dau.game. Without your consent the page sets no cookies and there is no analytics. You can change your mind with the "Analytics" link at the bottom of the page; your choice is kept in your browser, not by us. The hosting provider the request passes through sees your IP address; we do not store visitors' IP addresses ourselves.
If you share a run
A page is created only when you press Share in the game. The game then sends:
- the run card: company name, niche, numbers, headlines and events of the run;
- player names — only if "Show player names" is checked in the share dialog; otherwise the game sends the characters' roles instead of nicknames: CEO, CTO, CMO and so on;
- the screenshots you picked. We re-encode them into new images: file metadata (EXIF, location, camera data) is not kept;
- your Steam ID, confirmed by Steam through a one-time ticket; it is never shown on the page. If you play through Steam Family Sharing, we also keep the Steam ID of the owner of the copy, so that a block cannot be dodged through someone else's account;
- the IP address the upload came from.
Why
- to publish the page for anyone who has its link (we ask search engines not to index the pages);
- to let whoever shared the page first delete it from the game;
- to fight spam and abuse: limit how many pages one account publishes, block accounts and addresses that publish forbidden content.
Basis: your pressing Share (you ask us to publish the page) and our legitimate interest in protecting the service from spam and abuse.
Where it is kept and who else gets it
The database and the images are stored in the European Union, with a cloud hosting provider. The Steam ticket is sent to Steam (Valve) for verification under Steam's own policy. To find breaches of the publishing rules, after publishing the company name, the names, the page texts and the screenshots are checked automatically by an AI model through the OpenRouter service; we allow only providers that do not use this data for training. The model may hide a clear violation at once until a moderator decides; only a person blocks accounts and addresses. We do not sell this data, share it with anyone but Steam (Valve), OpenRouter and the hosting provider, or use it for advertising.
How long
- the page, the card, the screenshots and the Steam ID of whoever shared it — until the page is deleted. Cached copies disappear within a day; previews already saved by chats and social networks are outside our control. A page we hid for a violation is kept hidden to handle complaints; email abuse@dau.game to have it deleted;
- the upload IP address — 180 days, then deleted; longer only while that address (for IPv6, its network) stays blocked for publishing forbidden content;
- the publishing log that limits how many pages one account makes a day — 1 year (Steam ID and time); the IP address in a log entry — 180 days. A log entry stays until its own period runs out, even after the page is deleted;
- blocks of accounts and addresses — until we lift them; we review them on request to abuse@dau.game.
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, delete the page (in the game if you shared it first, otherwise by email to v@dau.game) and ask us to delete the rest. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.
Report a run page with the "Report this page" link at its bottom or by email to abuse@dau.game.
Children
The service is not intended for children under 13; a Steam account requires the same age.
Changes
We may change this policy. Every version is published with the date it applies from; past versions can be picked at the top of the page.
